National Sorry Day 2017
Friday the 26th of May was National Sorry Day. Vivid staff commemorated at head office in Belrose.
We were lucky enough to have the amazing Susan Moylan-Coombs join us.
Susan graciously shared her own traumatic story as an infant of the stolen generation and gave us all a better understanding of the true history of Australia’s First People.
Sorry Day was first held on May 26, 1998, one year after the release of the Bringing Them Home report.
The report acknowledged the systematic forcible removal of Aboriginal babies and children from their families.
This shameful government practice started in the late 19th century and continued until 1969 under the guise of ‘assimilation’ and ‘protection’.
